Welcome to the San Marino
Community Athletics Association
The SMCAA is a not-for-profit organization created by parents in an effort to further support and develop youth amateur sports in our community. Two leagues have been created, a Flag Football and Basketball league. Each league promotes good sportsmanship and good citizenship, and teaches all participants the fundamental skills necessary to enhance participation in these two sports as the athlete matures. The leagues focus on providing high quality instruction to the participants to ensure better prepared athletes for our high school sports.
The leagues are for children who are either (i) residents of San Marino regardless of what school they attend, or (ii) students of the San Marino Unified School District.
-
Flag football is for those entering 3rd through 6th grade for the 2008/2009 school year. Click on Football on the top of this page for more information
-
The basketball league is available for those boys currently in 3rd through 8th grade and girls in the 3rd through 6th grade for the 2008/2009 school year. Basketball will begin in mid November and end in late February or early March, with the games beginning by the first weekend of December. We will have a two week break for the Holidays. The season will have minimal overlap with SM National Little league or AYSO soccer. We will have one practice and one game per week. The games will be played on Saturdays. Click on Basketball on the top of this page for more information.
-
Coaches are provided with instructional clinics and other opportunities to improve their knowledge and methods of instruction. All participants are be provided with opportunities to attend special skills clinics to develop and improve their games.
-
These will be competitive leagues with post league All Star team opportunities for those interested. Football games will be played at SMHS Fields and basketball games at the SMHS gyms.
-
Both league schedules are set up to minimize any interference with soccer in the fall or Little League in the spring.
